Risk

Risks associated with drying timber:

  • When you invest in timber beams, as with all investments, there is a degree of risk. The main risk is the chance of water reaching the timber, leaving it susceptible to wet and dry rot. However, as the wood will be kept in storage, this risk should be very small.

  • There is still much to learn about British hardwoods but research is constantly being carried out. Initial trials have already indicated problems and their remedies e.g. keeping beams in storage can prevent insect attack.
